Retail giant Inditex isn’t immune to fashion’s negative trends, but the company is certainly doing better than many, saying Wednesday that net sales in the first nine months of the year were up 10% and profit was up 6%.
Springboard released its November footfall figures on Monday and they made less-than-encouraging reading as visitor traffic to stores rose marginally (by 0.2%) in a month when traffic should have picked up even more.
The Netherlands’ Hema is making its way to Austria. The retailer announced the opening of two new stores in Vienna, planned for Spring 2018. Additionally, the retailer expects to open 35 new stores worldwide in 2018.
Dutch outdoor chain Bever has landed in Middelburg. The 750m2 store, which officially opens on Saturday, is the first branch in the Dutch province of Zeeland. The shop marks the retailer’s fifth store addition of 2017.
Big news on the mall front in the UK on Wednesday as property giant Hammerson is planning to merge with major rival Intu, which means the bigger group will have stakes in or ownership of 60% of the country's supermalls.
