Isabel Marant inaugurates first store in Amsterdam, plans openings in Italy, Spain, China
Parisian label Isabel Marant has picked a shopping thoroughfare in the Oud-Zuid district in Amsterdam for its 28th store, located at 114 Pieter Cornelisz Hoofstraat. The label’s new Amsterdam shop, heralded last December on FashionNetwork.com, opened on April 28.
The 150-m2 store exudes a warm, comfortable and authentic feel. The designer’s own studio worked on the interiors alongside a team of young European designers and craftsmen, and took care to preserve the building’s original structure. Brick walls and panoramic windows enclose an array of sculptures and other souvenirs gleaned by the designer herself during her travels. For example, the fluffy sofa and the tables in imitation stone scattered around the store’s two floors.
For Isabel Marant, this is the first foray into the Netherlands, a new country with at least one eponymous store to be added to the label's list, which includes, besides France, also Spain, Denmark, Norway, the USA, the UAEs, Lebanon, Japan, South Korea, China, Hong Kong and Macao.
More openings are on the cards for the next six months, with new stores in Hong Kong, Beijing and Barcelona.
The label has embarked on an ambitious expansion plan after the Montefiore investment fund acquired a 51% stake in the brand, and will also head for Italy, where its first two stores will open in Milan and Rome. In Paris, work is under way for another store, located at 354 rue Saint Honoré.
