A spokesperson for Topshop said: "Further to the recent incident in Reading, as a safety precaution we have decided to remove all the till barrier units in question from our stores across the country with immediate effect."

The retailer is currently investigating the events surrounding the death of Kaden Reddick, who suffered serious head injuries in an accident on Monday at an Oracle Centre branch. He died at the Royal Berkshire Hospital the same day.

Topshop, part of Arcadia, has more than 300 stores across the UK, and its Oxford Circus flagship store welcomes over 250,000 shoppers every week.
