Iconic New York-based jeweler Tiffany & Co. has been keeping an eye on its competition, as well as its talent, with the appointment of Cartier veteran Nathalie Verdeille, as Tiffany’s vice president, artistic director of jewelry.

According to reports, the creative director for jewelry at Cartier since 2005, will lead the core jewelry and high jewelry categories at the iconic American jeweler, as of later this year.

Prior to joining Cartier, Verdeille graduated from the Haute École de Joaillerie in Paris in 1997, and worked for high jewelry designer, Lorenz Bäumer. She also previously led high jewelry design at Chaumet, which is part of LVMH’s watches and jewelry business division. In this new position, she will report to Alexandre Arnault, executive vice president, product and communications.

In an internal note revealed by WWD, Arnault said: “Nathalie is an accomplished and renowned designer in the jewelry industry and joins us with an impressive portfolio of work.”

“In this new role, Nathalie will be responsible for leading the creative vision for our jewelry and high jewelry designs. She will lead the design team and work closely with cross-functional partners as well as the regions and markets to ensure flawless innovation, design, product prototyping, and follow-up and alignment with the overall product strategy.”

In January, Tiffany was acquired for $15.8 billion by French luxury giant LVMH.

Most recently, Tiffany unveiled a new campaign featuring a diverse, all-star line-up such as actresses Tracee Ellis Ross and Anya Taylor-Joy, as well as top athlete Eileen Gu. The move was part of plans for a shake up at the company.
